Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) recently launched the book titled “Artificial Intelligence Enabled Real Time Environmental Monitoring,” at an event presided over by key figures including Vice Chancellor Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh, Registrar Dr. R. K. Joteen Singh, and Finance Officer Rojendrakar Nongthomba. The launch took place on the DMU campus at 2:30 PM and drew attendance from faculty, students, and environmental experts. Head of Department Koijam Manibusan Singh provided an overview of the book’s central themes.
This 281-page volume, set to be published by Springer with a hardcover edition available from January 3, 2026, is edited by a team comprising Dr. Binota Thokchom from DMU in Manipur, Dr. Rishemjit Kaur from CSIR-CSIO in Chandigarh, Dr. Pardeep Singh from the University of Delhi, and Dr. Pengpeng Qiu from Donghua University in Shanghai. The book thoroughly investigates the interplay of artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) in environmental management. It addresses various applications such as monitoring air and water quality, waste management, disaster response, sustainable agriculture, urban planning, the development of smart cities, and climate change forecasting. Furthermore, it delves into the opportunities and challenges this technological integration presents, along with the ethical considerations involved. The work is designed to serve as a valuable resource for a diverse audience, including researchers, academics, environmentalists, climate scientists, industrialists, policymakers, and students.
During the launch, Vice Chancellor Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh underscored the book’s relevance to pressing environmental issues in Manipur, particularly in the realms of biodiversity conservation and climate resilience. He also pointed out DMU’s commitment to pioneering research, stating that this publication aligns with global sustainability initiatives and enhances Manipur’s role as a vital contributor to environmental technology. The book will be accessible in both hardcover and eBook formats through Amazon India. The collaboration embodied in this publication highlights DMU’s position as a leader in advancing environmental technology within Northeast India.
