Amid rising concerns over illegal immigration, Dimapur Police have ramped up document checks at key entry points, including the railway station. Intensive checks, which began on September 3, are focused on identifying suspected illegal immigrants entering Nagaland.
Police personnel stationed at Dimapur railway station were seen inspecting identity documents such as Aadhar and voter ID cards of passengers arriving by train. Authorities are also collecting data, including contact details, from over 1,000 individuals entering the city daily, with many of them headed to areas in Assam such as Lahorijan and Golaghat.
Commissioner of Police Kevithuto Sophie confirmed the ongoing 24/7 checks at multiple inter-state entry points and urged the public and civil society to report any suspicious activity. The police have provided hotlines for immediate action against illegal immigration.
