Reckitt’s flagship initiative, Dettol Banega Swasth India (BSI), successfully commemorated Global Handwashing Day 2024, reaching 30 million children across India and underscoring its commitment to hygiene equity. With the theme “Clean Hands for All: Advancing Health Equity through Hygiene,” the campaign aims to ensure that children from diverse backgrounds gain access to crucial hygiene education.
The Dettol School Hygiene Education programme engaged students in 29 states and 7 union territories, with participation from over 100 partners. Schools across various sectors, including Sarvodaya Vidyalayas and Kendriya Vidyalayas, promoted proper handwashing techniques. A key innovation this year is the introduction of the AI-powered chatbot, “Hygieia For Good Hygiene,” which provides essential hygiene information in seven languages via WhatsApp, facilitating greater engagement and accessibility.
In Kolkata, the campaign has gained significant traction, as local stakeholders emphasize the importance of hygiene education in promoting public health. The market’s response reflects a strong community commitment to integrating hygiene practices in everyday life, with schools actively participating in the initiative. This alignment with public health goals showcases a collaborative approach to fostering a health-conscious society in the region.
