Zubeen Garg’s sister, Dr. Palme Borthakur, has said that defence lawyers intentionally the delaying trial of her brother ‘s death case. Reiterating the family’s demand for a fast-track court for expeditious trial, she alleged that the hearing of the case has been delayed due to the delaying tactics employed by the counsels representing the accused. She said, “The defence lawyers are deliberately buying time and trying to postpone the trial.” “For how many more months or years the people of Assam will have to wait to see justice being delivered to their beloved Zubeen Garg,” she questioned. Earlier, Zubeen’s wife Garima Saikia Garg had also demanded that the fast-track court promised by the state government be set up at the earliest for daily hearings. She had alo written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for setting up a fast-track court.
