Darjeeling MP and BJP National Spokesperson Raju Bista on Sunday expressed deep appreciation for a group of local citizens who came together to build a footpath in Singamari, Darjeeling. The initiative, taken up by volunteers from a local samaj, aims to protect children from the dangers of increasing traffic near the Ropeway area.
According to Bista, while passing through Singamari, he noticed a group of people working on the roadside. Curious about their activity, he stopped his vehicle to inquire. To his surprise, he found that the citizens were not waiting for government help but had taken matters into their own hands by constructing a safe pathway for children.
“I am so touched by the depth of their care and their concern for the well-being of children and the greater community. This is the best of humanity, and the best of our Gorkha samaj,” Bista said, praising the volunteers for their commitment.
The MP further said that he personally contributed funds to support the cause as a token of appreciation for the noble effort. He said that such acts of kindness and unity highlight the true spirit of the people of Darjeeling.
