The Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) and the Nagaland NET Qualified Forum (NNQF) have officially called off their planned agitation, set for April 25, following a high-level meeting with the Minister of the Higher Education Department. The decision comes after the Minister assured the organizations that their concerns over a controversial cabinet order would be addressed.
The protest had been organized in response to the Nagaland Cabinet’s decision to absorb 147 Assistant Professors and Librarians, a move that CTAN and NNQF argued bypassed established recruitment procedures. In the meeting, the Minister assured the groups that the cabinet order would be revoked, with the relevant file being forwarded for further action by the morning of April 25.
In a joint press statement, CTAN and NNQF expressed their appreciation for the Minister’s commitment to addressing their grievances. “In light of this assurance, CTAN and NNQF have decided to withdraw the proposed agitation. We remain committed to safeguarding the interests of qualified aspirants and ensuring fair recruitment practices in Nagaland,” the statement read.
The two groups also thanked the various unions, associations, organizations, individuals, and well-wishers who supported their cause. They described their protest as a fight against corruption and a defense of merit-based recruitment.
