The Consumer Awareness Bharat Yatra Programme was held at the Northeastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation Limited (NEHHDC), Guwahati, as part of a nationwide initiative from December 24, 2025, to March 15, organized by the Consumer Confederation of India (CCI) with support from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The goal is to promote quality consciousness, standardization, and consumer protection, generating awareness about quality control, consumer rights, and the functions of BIS. Notable speakers at the event included Isaac Ginlaldin from BIS, who stressed the relevance of Indian Standards and certification marks for consumer safety and reliability. Dr. Anant Sharma, CCI National Chairman, emphasized consumer participation in enhancing market accountability, while M. Selvraj discussed the Yatra’s extensive outreach. The event also featured collaborative dialogues among regulatory bodies, consumer organizations, and public involvement, with interactive sessions focusing on consumer rights and grievance redressal mechanisms, promoting the purchase of certified products.
