Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said that certain groups had allegedly gathered near his residence with the intention of setting it on fire and damaging the property amid the ongoing tensions in parts of the state.
Speaking about the incident, Sangma said that based on security inputs and standard protocols, he was advised to move to another location for safety. However, he clarified that he had not fled and remained firm in the face of the situation.
“My life is not in anyone else’s hands but in the hands of God,” the Chief Minister said, adding that he draws strength from the legacy of his father, late P.A. Sangma. Emphasising dialogue over conflict, the Chief Minister urged people to work together to restore peace and stability in the state.
