Congress Unveils Second List of 23 Nominees for Assam Assembly Elections

The Congress has unveiled its second list of 23 candidates for the forthcoming Assam Legislative Assembly election scheduled for 2026, bringing the total number of candidates announced to 65 for the 126-member Assembly. This leaves 15 seats available for alliance partners. The second list, made public by Congress general secretary (organisation) K.C. Venugopal, includes candidates such as Nurul Islam for the Srijangram seat, Abdul Khaleque from Mandia, Rakibuddin Ahmed for Chamaria, Devid Phukan from Tinsukia, and Bipul Gogoi from Tingkhong. Additionally, Congress has designated key constituencies like Bajali, Palasbari, Guwahati Central, Goreswar, Morigaon, and Barhampur for its alliance partners. Earlier, on March 3, Congress had released its first list of 42 candidates, which featured State party chief Gaurav Gogoi contesting from the Jorhat constituency.
