On Monday, in an accident 7 students from Assam Engineering College (AEC) were killed. In view to the incident Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ordered the education department to institute a high-level inquiry committee.
According to the sources, the principal of the AEC and the superintendent of the hostel to which the ill-fated students belonged “would be asked to go on leave” till the enquiry is completed and the report will be examined by the government.
Assam Chief Minister asked education department to form another one more committee to look into the rules and regulations in the hostels of the institute and strengthen the system. In and out time of the students will be strict, complete prohibition of alcohol inside the campus, ex-students staying in the hostel will be prohibited too.
