Cognizant Launches AI Lab and Moment Studio in Bengaluru as Part of $1 Billion Investment

Cognizant has announced the launch of its India Artificial Intelligence Lab and a new Cognizant Moment™ Studio in Bengaluru, strengthening its global research footprint and advancing its $1-billion generative AI investment plan. The company said the facilities will support enterprises across India—including major business hubs like Kolkata—seeking to adopt multi-agent AI systems and human-centered digital experiences. The AI Lab extends Cognizant’s San Francisco centre, which recently secured its 61st U.S. patent. The new hub will focus on agentic AI architectures, responsible AI, decisioning systems and AI-for-good initiatives. CEO Ravi Kumar S said the company aims to act as an “AI builder,” combining platforms, partnerships and workforce skills to deliver dependable, enterprise-ready AI models.

For Kolkata’s expanding IT and financial sectors, industry experts believe Cognizant’s push into multi-agent architectures and next-generation UX could support companies looking to modernize systems and improve customer experience.

The Cognizant Moment™ Studio will help clients design AI-led digital journeys, blending creativity and technology. The India AI Lab team includes PhD-level researchers who will work on scalable, reliable AI systems and collaborate with leading universities for joint research.
