Coca-Cola India and the ICC celebrated a dual victory at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, hosted in the USA and the West Indies, as India claimed the championship. Central to this triumph were the ‘Made in India’ National and Cricket 4 Good Flags, crafted entirely from recycled PET bottles, marking a bold stride in sustainable innovation.
These monumental flags, each spanning 35 meters by 20 meters, were prominently featured during the tournament’s opening anthem ceremonies, symbolizing a fusion of sportsmanship and environmental stewardship. Coca-Cola India’s commitment to sustainability shone through with approximately 11,000 PET bottles used for each national flag and 2,000 bottles for each ICC Cricket 4 Good Flag, all processed by Go Rewise and Ganesha Ecoverse Limited.Rajesh Ayapilla, Senior Director-CSR and Sustainability for Coca-Cola India and Southwest Asia, expressed pride in this initiative, stating, “These recycled PET flags exemplify our dedication to circular economy principles and environmental responsibility.”
Highlighting the Guwahati market perspective, these flags not only captivated global audiences but also underscored India’s leadership in recycling technology. This sustainable initiative not only enhanced the tournament’s ambiance but also set a new benchmark for future sporting events.
