Celebrations Held in Kakching to Mark International Women’s Day

In recognition of International Women’s Day, themed “Rights, Justice, Action for All Women and Girls,” a commemorative program took place at the Lamjao Mayai Leikai Community Hall in Kakching district. The event, organized collaboratively by the Kakching District Bar Association (KDBA) and the Lamjao Part 1 Development Association, featured Khundrakpam Hemabati, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Kakching (MPS), as the chief guest. The program was presided over by Thounaojam Mema, Vice President of Lamjao Apunba Meira Paibee Lup, with notable guests including Vice Presidents Yumnam Bidyapati and Urikhinbam Shantibala, along with secretaries Sorolhaibam Inaobi Devi, Mayengbam Memcha Leima, and Urikhinbam Sanajaobi.

Senior Advocate Nongmaithem Madhu, serving as the President of the Kakching District Bar Association, presented the keynote address. The discussions included vital topics such as domestic violence against women, presented by Advocate Kshetrimayum Sarankumari, and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, articulated by Advocate Taibangjam Geetdev Meitei. The program aimed to enhance legal awareness regarding the protection of women’s and girls’ rights, emphasizing their dignity and the need for advocacy in legal frameworks. This event underlined the collective dedication to promoting gender equality and safeguarding the welfare of women and girls in society.
