CALT calls for action on extortion against Aolemba Lkr

The Chümoukedima Ao Youth Organization (CALT) has strongly condemned an alleged extortion demand of ₹50 lakh made by the NSCN-K (Khango) faction against Aolemba Lkr, a respected resident and community leader, on December 16, 2024. In a press statement, CALT expressed outrage over the harassment faced by Aolemba, a bonafide resident of 7th Mile Chümoukedima and chairman of the Country Craft Development Society. A recipient of the President’s and Governor’s awards, Aolemba is also an active member of CALT. The youth body emphasized that a person of his stature deserves respect, not intimidation.

An FIR was lodged at Chümoukedima Police Station on December 17, but CALT voiced dissatisfaction over the lack of progress in apprehending the culprits. The organization has urged authorities to expedite the investigation and take decisive action to ensure the safety and security of its members.

CALT further called for strict measures to address such incidents, which they claim threaten peace and stability in the region. The youth organization reiterated its commitment to standing against any form of harassment or exploitation targeting its members and the community at large.
