The 21st edition of Bhasha Sanskriti Milan Utsav, organized by Byatikram Group in association with Meraki Associates, was held with grandeur and deep cultural resonance at Vivanta Kolkata, EM Bypass on the occasion of International Mother Language Day (Ekushey February). For over two decades, the Guwahati-based Byatikram Group has commemorated this historic day to promote linguistic diversity, multilingual harmony, and the preservation of mother languages across India. This year’s celebration seamlessly blended literary discourse, cultural tribute, and the prestigious Ekushey Samman felicitation ceremony.
The first session featured an engaging discussion on the literary contributions of Acharya Subhendu Sorcar — noted author and Vedic scholar. Distinguished guests on the dais included eminent personalities Acharya Subhendu Sorcar, Author; Prof. Rajiv Bandyopadhaye, globally acclaimed and eminent scientist; Prof. Ashish Paul, Jadavpur University; Palash Chaturvedi, eminent personality working in areas like historical and archeological sites of India. Besides he belongs to India’s pioneering Vedic Studies – Chaturvedi family of Varanasi; Sukamal Maity, Chairman from Raghunath Ayurved Mahavidyalaya; Ghulam Ahmed, Social Activist, etc.
Addressing the gathering, Acharya Sorcar spoke about the philosophical depth of Indian civilization and the importance of reconnecting modern society with indigenous knowledge systems. The highlight of the literary segment was the book signing ceremony of his works: “INDUS – Knowledge of Life” and “BHUMI – The Sacred Land.” The interactive “Meet the Author” session witnessed enthusiastic participation from literature lovers and scholars alike.
A major highlight of the evening was the conferment of the prestigious Ekushey Samman 2026, recognizing distinguished individuals for their invaluable contribution to literature, arts, journalism, social activism, and cultural preservation. The awardees included: Subodh Sarkar – Eminent Poet and Writer; Iman Chakraborty – Singer & Actress; Bratati Bandopadhyay – Elocutionist & Founder of Bratati Parampara; Acharya Subhendu Sorcar – Author; Prof. Dipak Bhattacharya – Author & Senior Counsel, Supreme Court of India; Snehasis Sur – President, Kolkata Press Club; Dr. Sudipta Chatterjee – Secretary, ISISAR; Doctor & Writer; Prof. Suman Gun – Eminent Poet and Essayist; Ritacheta Goswami – Cultural Activist; Srovonti Bandopadhyay – Journalist & Singer; Sampa Das – Fashion Entrepreneur & Revivalist of Assam’s Golden Muga and Parimal Dey – a Social Activist from Kolkata.
