BPCL launches drone-based aerial seeding to boost Bihar’s forest cover

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has announced a groundbreaking initiative to reforest key forest regions in Bihar using aerial seeding technology. In collaboration with the Department of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Government of Bihar, and an NGO partner, BPCL’s “Aranya” project aims to deploy 100,000 seedballs across three critical forest areas in the state.

The initiative will cover 50 hectares across UmgaPahadi in the Madanpur Forest of Aurangabad, Rajauli Forest Area in Nawada, and the Brahmyoni, Dungeshwari, Pretshila, and Barabar Hills in Gaya. The project is set to be inaugurated by Dr. Prem Kumar, Hon’ble Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Government of Bihar, at the Umga Reserve Forest.

“Planting trees is a powerful way to enhance environmental sustainability and support local communities,” stated Mr. Raman Malik, Head of CSR at BPCL. “Through the Aranya project, we are committed to increasing green cover and promoting environmental awareness while creating economic opportunities.”
