The Blenders Pride Fashion Tour closed its 2025 edition in Kolkata with a disruptive showcase that analysts say could influence demand dynamics in India’s premium fashion segment. Staged on a barge anchored mid-Hooghly, under the Howrah Bridge, the finale unveiled designer Anamika Khanna’s AK|OK collection. Actor Ishaan Khatter served as the showstopper. The experimental presentation broke from conventional craft displays, positioning heritage techniques for contemporary markets.
In collaboration with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), the narrative reinterpreted zardozi, chikankari and mirror work using metallic interventions, futuristic tailoring, and cosmic-inspired graphics. High-energy staging with scaffolding, divers, responsive lasers and a dramatic speedboat arrival underlined rising investments in experience-led fashion events.
The finale in Kolkata highlights strategic interest in the city’s expanding luxury consumption base. With rising aspirational spending, markets such as Park Street and Camac Street are witnessing growing traction for designer wear and craft-led fusion collections. The Riverine Museum experience aboard The Bengal Paddle vessel positioned culture as a premium value driver for experiential retail and brand storytelling in eastern India.
Debasree Dasgupta, CMO, Pernod Ricard India, said the showcase reflected how heritage and innovation converge to shape “Future Is Crafted.” Khanna said reimagining craftsmanship for modern audiences was exhilarating. Khatter described the shift as exciting, while FDCI Chairman Sunil Sethi said the collaboration set the pace for India’s next fashion movement.
