Beauty & Wellness sector to provide opportunities to close to 3 cr people by 2030: JayantChaudhary

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Shri Jayant Chaudhary, highlighted the transformative potential of India’s Beauty & Wellness sector, projecting it to create employment opportunities for nearly 3 crore people by 2030. This ambitious goal was unveiled at the Beauty and Wellness Sector Skill Council’s (B&WSSC) annual convocation ceremony in New Delhi, where 270 candidates were honored for completing skill development programs under PMKVY 4.0 and CSR initiatives.

The event, held at the Indian Habitat Centre, emphasized inclusivity by recognizing graduates from diverse backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+ individuals and acid attack survivors. Minister Chaudhary praised their resilience and dedication, noting the sector’s rapid growth which has surpassed global benchmarks.Under the Skill India Mission, B&WSSC has trained over 13 lakh candidates, focusing on empowering marginalized communities like widows and transgender individuals. The sector, poised to reach an estimated INR 500,000 crores by 2030, reflects its pivotal role in India’s economic landscape.

Chaudhary also launched the B&WSSC’s Coffee Table Book, “Lakshaya-Transformative Tales of Empowerment,” showcasing success stories within the industry. The ceremony concluded with a commitment to further expand skill development initiatives nationwide, ensuring equitable opportunities in this dynamic sector driving India’s economic growth.
