Asad, the son of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad, and a companion, who were both wanted in the murder of Umesh Pal, were murdered in a shootout with the Uttar Pradesh Police in Jhansi on Thursday, according to police. “Asad and Ghulam had a bounty of Rs 5 lakh each and were sought in the Prayagraj murder of Umesh Pal. According to Special Additional Director General (Law and Order) Prasahant Kumar, they were slain in a confrontation with the UP STF squad. Vimal and Deputy SP Navendu led the UP STF team. From the accused, sophisticated firearms made abroad were found. We are awaiting more information.
