Ather Energy, a frontrunner in the electric vehicle (EV) domain, has joined forces with Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, to establish a groundbreaking interoperable fast-charging network across India. The collaboration aims to seamlessly integrate Ather Energy’s AtherGrids and Hero MotoCorp’s VIDA charging stations, spanning 100 cities and boasting over 1,900 fast-charging points.
This combined infrastructure, recently approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards, introduces India’s first-ever Light Electric Combined Charging System (LECCS), a game-changing standard for light electric vehicles.
The partnership signifies a milestone for Indian OEMs, scaling up charging infrastructure to alleviate range anxiety and enhance the EV ownership experience. Ather Energy Co-founder and CTO Swapnil Jain expressed enthusiasm, stating, “Today we are also committing that any OEM which adopts the LECCS standard will have access to Ather Grid across India.” The move towards interoperability sets a global precedent for two-wheeler EV charging networks.Customers can seamlessly locate and navigate to charging stations through the Ather App and My VIDA, fostering accessibility and convenience.
