Assembly speaker visits BSF border outpost in South garo hills

On October 25, Thomas A. Sangma, the speaker of the Meghalaya Assembly, paid a visit to the Baghmara Border Out Post, which is located in the South Garo Hills area and is manned by the 200 Battalion of the Border Security Force. Vinod Yadav, the commandant of 200 Bn BSF, gave him an update on the security forces’ achievements in the area.

The Meghalaya Speaker engaged with BSF soldiers during his tour and praised their dedication to national security. He gave the troops credit for maintaining watch and security near the border. Twelve cartons of Skin Shine ointment worth Rs 12 lakh were seized when members of the Border Security Force stopped a significant cosmetics smuggling operation earlier in the day at the India-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya.

Troops from the 4th Battalion BSF found the contraband concealed in a thick jungle close to the international border after acting on intelligence inputs. According to officials, the cosmetics were intended for trafficking into Bangladesh. The confiscated items have been sent to Pynursla customs officials for additional examination.
