Assam has inaugurated its first Science City, located in Sonapur on the outskirts of Guwahati, with the aim of developing a prominent educational and entertainment hub. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, alongside Minister of Science and Technology Keshab Mahanta and CEO of Science City Guwahati Dr. Jaideep Baruah, officially opened the project, which occupies 82 acres and cost Rs 300 crore. The Science City includes features such as Eureka and Space Odyssey, with plans for further attractions like a Science Innovation center and a Science Park to encourage scientific thinking among the youth. Sarma emphasized that the facility aims to be one of the premier science centers in the country, surpassing the Science City in Kolkata in size and scope.
