Borluit Productions, known for its award-winning short films, has announced its debut Assamese feature film, Dipholu, set to release on August 21, 2026. The recently unveiled poster hints at the film’s rural Assamese setting and showcases a diverse cast, which includes Amrita Gogoi, Subrat Deori, and veteran actress Mridula Barua among others. Directed by Nekib, who is also the writer and editor, the film boasts a strong technical team with notable contributions in screenplay by Debojit Bora and cinematography by Uttam Kalita.
The film promises emotional resonance through two special duet songs featuring the late Zubeen Garg, a significant figure in Assamese music, and Gayatri Hazarika, also adored for her contributions before her passing. Director Nekib expressed the emotional importance of including Garg’s final works in the film, underscoring the loss felt in the Assamese music community.
Choreography is led by Deepak Dey and Uday Shankar, with Pankaj Soram directing action scenes. Costume design is by Juri Kalita, and the makeup team is headed by Pijumoni Sharma. Life’s Purple, a PR firm from Guwahati, is managing the film’s publicity.
Producer Jekiv emphasized that Dipholu encapsulates the essence of Assam, aiming to connect deeply with the audience through its authentic storytelling and visuals. Following their previous successes with short films, Dipholu represents Borluit Productions’ ambitious venture into feature films, heralding a rich cinematic experience that celebrates Assamese culture.
