Assam Rifles Marks 159 Years of ‘Vande Mataram’ with Commemorative Event

Assam Rifles celebrated the 150th anniversary of India’s national song Vande Mataram with musical tributes in Manipur, held at Kangla Fort in Imphal, Khongjom War Memorial in Thoubal District, and Peace Ground in Tuibong, Churachandpur. The events united communities in a patriotic and culturally rich celebration. At Kangla Fort, over 200 attendees, including NCC cadets and college students, enjoyed powerful performances by the Assam Rifles Band, featuring patriotic songs like Vande Mataram and Sare Jahan Se Acha, symbolizing national unity. The Khongjom War Memorial hosted a solemn program, with an evocative rendition of Vande Mataram paying tribute to local heroes, enhancing the pride of visitors. The largest gathering occurred at Peace Ground, where about 1,200 students and numerous NCC cadets and civilians experienced a full rendition of Vande Mataram by Assam Rifles’ bands, creating an emotionally charged atmosphere decorated with the tricolour ahead of Republic Day.
