Assam Rifles Felicitates Newly Commissioned Officer

On Wednesday, a felicitation ceremony was held at the Sector Headquarters of the Assam Rifles in Churachandpur to honor Lieutenant Obed Thangminsiam, a resident of Hiangzou village, for his remarkable achievement in joining the prestigious 10 Guards of the Indian Army after completing his training at the Officers Training Academy, Chennai. The Sector Commander praised Lt Obed’s resilience and determination, highlighting his perseverance in overcoming challenges such as regional conflicts that delayed his academic examinations and required arduous travel to complete his CDS examinations and SSB interviews. His success on his second attempt at SSB Bhopal was noted as a significant example of determination. This achievement also reflects a family legacy, as Lt Obed is the son of Hon Naib Subedar (Retd) Khamkhokam, who served in 13 Guards from 1990 to 2014, continuing the military traditions of the area. His success has brought pride to his alma maters—Young Learners School, Rayburn High, and Churachandpur College—and the local community. The Sector Commander recalled a previous felicitation in January 2025 when Lt Obed cleared the CDS examination on his first attempt, marking a transition from a determined student to a commissioned officer, representing a moment of profound pride for the region.
