Assam Conducts Coordinated Operation, Pushes Back 14 Foreign Nationals: CM Sarma

On January 18, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the apprehension and expulsion of 14 foreign nationals from the state following a coordinated security operation. The operation, conducted in the early hours, targeted individuals who allegedly entered Assam illegally. Sarma emphasized the state’s zero-tolerance policy toward illegal immigration, asserting that operations of this nature will continue as part of a broader security strategy aimed at protecting Assam’s demographic balance, social harmony, and internal security.

The Chief Minister’s statement highlighted that those apprehended included both “fresh infiltrators” and “experienced troublemakers,” underlining the government’s determination to identify and remove undocumented individuals from within its borders. Increased surveillance along Assam’s borders and within the state’s interior has been implemented, with security agencies maintaining constant vigilance to prevent unlawful entry. Sarma concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring a secure Assam as a top priority for his administration.
