Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu has announced to regularize 40,000 contractual teachers to permanent posts in government schools. Although these teachers were also receiving the regular pay scales like the permanent teachers.
Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during Independence Day has already announced about the taken decision for the 40,000 contractual teachers.
Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said, “There are more than 25,000 TET qualified teachers who have been working in the primary schools across the state on a contract basis. Apart from that 9,500 contractual teachers were also engaged in the primary schools.”
Further he added, “The education department has worked according to the Chief Minister’s announcement and prepared a plan to regularize the jobs of those 40K teachers. We have set a target of March next year to complete the whole process.”
The Minister also said that these 40,000 teachers salary will be decreased after the permanent appointment as the earlier service will not be calculated.
