Assam Chief Minister directed Independence Day celebration to kickstart from 8 August in village level program. From August 9-14, every gaon panchayat will plant 75 saplings to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
On August 13, the Assam Police will organize a special march, surrounding the Dighalipukhuri tank in central Guwahati. Also freedom fighters and martyrs in security forces will be remembered by installing granite plaques in every village on the first day.
