As part of National Road Safety Month, the Churachandpur District Administration organized a wall painting competition themed “Road Safety,” engaging students from five schools—Young Learners School, Children Training High School, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Chinkham Modern High School, and Sielmat Christian Higher Secondary School. This initiative was coordinated by the Zonal Education Officer and the CEO of the Autonomous District Council.
The event, inspected by Additional Deputy Commissioner Lalrobul Fimate and Esther Chingneikim, ZEO, showcased students’ creativity as they used vibrant colors and imaginative designs to convey powerful messages about obeying traffic regulations, the necessity of wearing seat belts, the dangers of alcohol consumption while driving, and the importance of avoiding distractions. Fimate praised the students’ creativity, noting its potential to inspire broader community awareness and encouraged them to spread the message of road safety in their homes and neighborhoods.
In alignment with the national initiative, the district has initiated several complementary activities throughout Churachandpur. Road safety drives are underway at various locations, supervised by the Superintendent of Police and the Traffic Control Wing, combining frisking operations with on-the-spot awareness sessions designed to emphasize the importance of wearing helmets and following provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Educational institutions are also fostering engagement with road safety through essay and quiz competitions that promote deeper understanding of traffic norms among students. The district has opened a public short film contest inviting ten-minute film submissions on road safety, with winning entries to be selected by the District Administration, thereby amplifying the road safety message via creative storytelling.
To ensure smooth coordination and effective execution of all activities, the District Transport Officer has been designated to oversee the entire campaign, highlighting the commitment to increasing road safety awareness within the community.
