AR conducts specialist healthcare camp for residents of Tengnoupal, Manipur

Assam Rifles conducted a significant specialist medical camp at Tengnoupal High School, aimed at enhancing healthcare access for remote and underserved populations in the Tengnoupal District. This initiative was part of Operation Sadbhavna and involved a team of specialized doctors from the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS). The camp provided comprehensive medical consultations across various disciplines, including Ophthalmology, General Medicine, Paediatrics, Gynaecology, Dentistry, and Orthopaedics.

The event attracted about 2000 local residents who benefitted from examinations, preventive healthcare counseling, and free medications. Notably, a large number of women and children accessed specialized services in Gynaecology and Paediatrics, receiving essential supplements and diagnostic guidance critical for their health. In the domains of Ophthalmology and Orthopaedics, many elderly patients were treated for common issues related to aging, such as vision impairment and musculoskeletal problems, which were often aggravated by the challenging terrain.

The Dentistry section addressed urgent dental needs while educating patients on preventative oral care strategies, a service not typically available in these areas. The successful implementation of the camp was supported by a dedicated team of 65 officials and troops, ensuring effective coordination and logistics. Observations from local civil society organizations highlighted the initiative’s positive impact, particularly in providing modern healthcare services to marginalized border communities, with women and children being primary beneficiaries.

This mega camp represents a continuation of Assam Rifles’ commitment to civic action events that promote civilian welfare and improve accessibility to healthcare services in the region.
