Anil Ambani Summoned Again In Money Laundering Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has once again summoned Reliance ADAG Chairman Anil Ambani on November 14 for questioning in a money laundering case involving his conglomerate, according to sources. This follows the agency’s recent provisional attachment of over 132 acres of land in Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City, Navi Mumbai, valued at ₹4,462.81 crore, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Earlier, the ED had attached 42 properties worth ₹3,083 crore linked to bank fraud cases involving Reliance Communications (RCOM), Reliance Commercial Finance, and Reliance Home Finance, taking the total attachment to over ₹7,545 crore.

The investigation, based on a CBI FIR, accuses RCOM, Anil Ambani, and others of criminal conspiracy, cheating, and corruption. Between 2010 and 2012, the group borrowed around ₹40,185 crore from lenders, with five banks later declaring the accounts as fraudulent. The ED found that loans were diverted to repay other debts, routed to related parties, or invested in mutual funds. Funds were also siphoned abroad through remittances. Further investigation into the misuse of funds is ongoing.
