Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah is set to launch the Vibrant Villages Programme–II (VVP–II) in Assam, specifically at Nathanpur village in Cachar district. This program represents a crucial advancement in initiatives aimed at enhancing the development of border villages and fostering inclusive growth in border regions. VVP-II is strategically designed to promote comprehensive and sustainable development through a saturation-based and convergence-driven framework. The primary objectives include improving essential infrastructure, enhancing access to basic services, and facilitating sustainable livelihood opportunities. These efforts are aimed at creating secure, resilient, and prosperous border communities, aligning with the goal of Viksit Bharat @2047.
By strengthening the socio-economic fabric of these villages, the program enables local residents to serve as critical informants for national security, aiding in the prevention of cross-border crimes and reinforcing internal security measures. The VVP-II is a Central Sector Scheme with a financial allocation of Rs 6,839 crore, slated for the fiscal period up to 2028-29, and will be implemented across 15 States and 2 Union Territories (UTs).
