Amazon strengthens e-commerce fraud protection with multi-layered approach

As e-commerce fraud continues to rise, Amazon is reinforcing its commitment to providing a safe and secure shopping experience for its customers. The company has introduced a range of advanced initiatives aimed at combating fraud across its marketplace, ensuring that both buyers and sellers are protected from deceptive practices.

Akshay Sahi, Director & Head of Amazon Prime, Speed & Fulfillment Experience, India, emphasized the importance of vigilance. “We encourage our customers to actively participate in safeguarding their online shopping by remaining vigilant and adhering to recommended security practices,” he said. Amazon is also focused on protecting sellers through initiatives like Safe-T claims, which allow quick resolution of delivery or payment issues.

Fraudulent activities, including counterfeit goods and fulfillment network concerns, have been on the rise. A recent PwC India report indicated that 57% of fraud incidents in India are linked to e-commerce and social media platforms. In response, Amazon has introduced enhanced security measures such as OTP verification, tamper-evident packaging, AI-powered fraud detection, and 24/7 customer support.
