AM/NS India strengthens rail milestones with steel backbone for Chenab and Anji Khad bridges

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has played a pivotal role in powering two of India’s most iconic railway infrastructure projects—supplying 70% of the steel for the Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge, and 100% of the steel for the Anji Khad Bridge, India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge.

The steel, manufactured at the company’s flagship Hazira facility, included 25,000 MT of high-strength structural steel for the Chenab Bridge and 7,000 MT of customised fabricated steel for the Anji Khad Bridge. AM/NS India overcame significant terrain and logistical challenges in Jammu & Kashmir to deliver high-performance steel solutions under stringent quality standards. These contributions align with the Government’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

The dedication of these engineering marvels by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has further strengthened the company’s positioning as a strategic enabler in India’s infrastructure transformation. In Kolkata, steel traders and infrastructure firms have responded positively to AM/NS India’s achievement, anticipating increased demand for customised structural steel in the eastern region. Analysts suggest that the company’s reliability in mega projects may drive new orders from infrastructure developers operating in Bengal and neighbouring states, boosting regional economic momentum.
