Authorities claimed here on Sunday that a terrible catastrophe was averted on Friday when an Air India and a Nepal Airlines aircraft came very close to colliding in mid-air but the warning systems notified the pilots whose prompt action saved the disaster.
According to CAAN spokesperson Jagannath Niroula, three air traffic controller department personnel have been suspended by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) for “carelessness” while on the job.
An Air India plane travelling from New Delhi to Kathmandu and a Nepal Airlines plane from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, nearly collided on Friday morning. The two aeroplanes were both Boeing A320s, each with a 150 passenger capacity.
