Air India Express has announced a significant increase in its winter flight schedule from Imphal, adding 20 new weekly flights, bringing the total to 34 weekly flights. This expansion reflects the airline’s commitment to enhancing connectivity in the Northeast, particularly with its strong presence in the Imphal-Guwahati sector, where it operates three daily flights.
Dr. Ankur Garg, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India Express, expressed his enthusiasm about the expansion, saying, “We are pleased to more than double our operations from Imphal this winter. This increase not only strengthens our domestic network but also contributes to the economic growth and tourism in the region.”
The expanded schedule includes direct flights to Kolkata and Guwahati, along with one-stop connections to major cities such as Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, and Hyderabad. The airline’s wider network now includes over 400 daily flights, a 30% increase from last year, supported by a growing fleet of 90 aircraft. In Imphal, this expansion offers vital access to both business and tourism sectors. It is expected to improve travel options for the local population and support regional development, boosting Imphal’s position as a key transit hub in the Northeast.
