The Indian National Congress is set to revitalize its presence in Nagaland with a statewide campaign ahead of the 2028 Assembly elections. AICC Secretary Christopher Tilak outlined the party’s strategy during a press conference in Kohima, drawing momentum from their victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where S Supongmeren Jamir secured the Nagaland seat.
Tilak revealed that Congress plans to focus on district-level outreach across Nagaland, starting with Eastern Nagaland, where the party aims to strengthen its base by engaging with local civil societies. The Congress has been absent from the state legislature since 2003 but aims to re-establish itself under Jamir’s leadership as NPCC President.
Tilak also addressed key issues, including the ongoing demand for Frontier Nagaland by the ENPO, expressing hope for a resolution through dialogue. With a commitment to grassroots efforts, Congress hopes to make a strong comeback in 2028.
