The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) match commissioner, Mindu Dorjee along with AIFF club licensing and competitions senior manager, Abhishek Yadav arrived in Shillong on January 19 to inspect the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The official of the AFC and AIFF will be inspecting the pitch and facilities JN stadium on Monday. It may be mention that Shillong is likely to host two international matches of the Indian football team scheduled to be held in March 2025.
The first match is an international friendly to be played between India and Maldives either on March 19th or 20th. The second match, an AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifier, is scheduled on March 25 between hosts India and Bangladesh. MFA president, Hamletson Dohling informed that he had a brief discussion with the two officials before the inspection tomorrow.
