98 people were killed on Sunday due to harsh clashes in student protests against quota reforms in the country

The total death is 300, according to police and doctors, reported AFP. India has informed citizens not to travel to Bangladesh till the next notice.

The protest started last month, when the Bangladesh high court ruled in kindness of restoring a 30 percent quota in government jobs for successors of freedom fighters.

After Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina denied meeting the students’ demands to reverse the order, the protest took place, leading to clashes with police and government-supporting groups.

200 people were killed and several people were injured during the movements. The government cut off all connectivity through broadband or the internet for 11 days.

The protests stopped for a while as conversations started with the government, but later it started again as students called for a nationwide civil disobedience movement and asked PM Sheikh Hasina to step down from her position.

Students are wanting a public apology from Hasina for the deaths and the removal of several of her ministers. They even want the government to reopen schools and universities, which were closed for the protest.
