On Monday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced of seven colleges to be upgraded to Universities in Assam.
Assam Chief Minister said through a tweet, “In our endeavor to make Assam an educational hub of eastern India, we are planning to upgrade 7 colleges to university status. Once this happens, we would have established 10 new universities in the State since 2021. Yesterday, I met the principals of these colleges”.
The list of the colleges are given here, Sibsagar College (Autonomous), Sivasagar, Gurucharan College, Silchar, Jagannath Barooah College (Autonomous), Jorhat, Kokrajhar Government College, Kokrajhar, North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous), Lakhimpur, Nowgong College (Autonomous), Nagaon and Bongaigaon College, Bongaigaon.
