33 war veterans were honored at Bhagat Stadium during an ex-servicemen’s rally in Nagaland

A record 1,300 ex-servicemen from Nagaland and Assam participated in an ex-servicemen rally at Bhagat Stadium in Dimapur. The event, organized by headquarters Spear Corps, aimed to honor ex-servicemen, widows, and their families while addressing their welfare needs. Chief guest Lieutenant General Abhijit S. Pendharkar acknowledged the sacrifices and contributions of the ex-servicemen, emphasizing their continued role in society post-retirement.

The senior Army officer emphasized the importance of Sainik School Punglwa in Nagaland and urged ex-servicemen to enroll their children, emphasizing scholarships. Chief Minister Rio expressed gratitude to the ex-servicemen and Veer Naris for their sacrifices and dedication to the nation. He highlighted government schemes for ex-servicemen, including financial aid, health insurance, and pension benefits. Rio also commended the Armed Forces and Assam Rifles for conducting free recruitment coaching for Naga youth.

The Chief Minister of Nagaland, Rio, announced that the state government will continue to collaborate with the defence forces to improve career prospects for aspiring soldiers. He emphasized the importance of skill development programs and financial assistance for Veer Naris and war widows. The rally included welfare assistance counters, medical checkups, legal aid, and financial planning support.
