In a major crackdown on insurgent activities, Manipur Police arrested three active cadres of the proscribed PREPAK(Pro) outfit in Bishnupur district on March 23. The operation also led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Oinam Abung Meitei (31), Yumlembam Romesh Singh (47), and RK Navy Meitei (32). Security forces seized a .303 LMG with magazines, various types of ammunition, grenade components, and a four-wheeler vehicle during the operation conducted in Kumbi Terakhong.
In a separate operation in Imphal East’s Mantripukhri Bazar, police apprehended another PREPAK(Pro) member, Md. Taj Khan (37), who was allegedly involved in extortion targeting local businesses.
Meanwhile, in Imphal West, security forces arrested Shagolshem Prabin Singh (27), an active member of the UNLF, for extorting transport vehicles.
Additionally, two members of the Arambai Tenggol outfit—Kshetrimayum Nikhil Singh (28) and Yumnam Pringanba Singh (23)—were detained following a violent clash with UNLF(P) members at Kongpal Khong on March 22. Four UNLF(P) cadres have already been taken into custody since the incident.
