Ten outstanding students, including eight from India and two from the Middle East, have been awarded the prestigious Global Citizen Scholarship (GCS) by Global Indian International School (GIIS), granting them a fully funded senior secondary education at GIIS SMART Campus in Singapore. The felicitation ceremony for the 18th GCS cohort was held on July 9 at Aerocity, Delhi.
Each scholar will receive full tuition, boarding, and living expenses for Grades 11 and 12 under the initiative, launched in 2008 to promote educational equity. Valued at ₹1 crore per student, the scholarship supports both CBSE and IBDP curricula and includes a generous stipend. “This scholarship empowers dreams,” said Pramod Tripathi, Director, Academic, Global Schools Group. “We are investing in students who will become purposeful global leaders.”
Students were selected through a rigorous multi-phase process assessing academics, leadership, and community impact. One of the recipients, Nishtha Nirmita Mahanta from Moran Town, Assam, called the scholarship “life-transforming.” In Bhubaneswar, the announcement sparked optimism among students and educators alike. Local academic circles view the GCS as a game-changer, offering eastern India’s bright minds an international launchpad for academic and leadership success.
