₹734 Crore Earmarked for IDP Relief and Rehabilitation: Khemchand Singh

The Scheme for Economic Empowerment of Women through Self Help Groups (SHGs) was announced by Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh during the Budget Estimates presentation for the financial year 2026-27. This initiative aims to support around 3.5 lakh women by strengthening women-led SHGs and promoting financial independence. The scheme allocates financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 to each beneficiary in the first year through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), with a total budget of Rs. 350 crore over three years.

Additionally, the Chief Minister highlighted the state’s improved law and order situation and its positive effects on revenue collection, which has risen from Rs. 2,087 crore in 2024-25 to Rs. 2,887 crore in 2026-27, marking a growth of over 38%. Notably, the Government of India has provided a special financial package of Rs. 2,198 crore for pre-payment of high-interest loans and support for displaced persons.

The government’s focus also includes the rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), with Rs. 734 crore earmarked in the budget for their support, including housing and compensation for losses. Moreover, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of improving connectivity through road expansion and upgrades. The state continues to commit to enhancing revenue generation while rationalizing expenditures to prioritize development and maintain financial stability.
